About SmartUs
SmartUs is a smart TV remote-control application for Android and iOS. It helps users discover, pair with, and control supported smart TVs on the same local network.
This policy explains what information SmartUs processes, how it is used, and the choices available to users.
Information we do not request
SmartUs does not require an account and does not ask users to provide a name, email address, phone number, contacts, messages, photos, videos, financial information, health information, or precise location. SmartUs does not sell personal information.
Local TV connection data
To provide remote-control functionality, SmartUs may store the following information locally on the user's device:
- TV display name and connection protocol or type
- TV local IP address or host
- TV pairing token or pairing key, when provided by the TV
- Random local record and app-to-TV connection identifiers
- Network device identifier and Wi-Fi MAC address, when exposed by the TV
- Protected client credentials and a TV certificate fingerprint for supported secure-pairing protocols
This information supports discovery, pairing, address recovery, wake-on-LAN, reconnection, and command delivery. SmartUs does not upload these saved connection records to a Falido-operated server or pass them as event parameters to Google AdMob or Google Analytics for Firebase.
When required for a requested feature, relevant connection data, pairing credentials, cryptographic public material, wake packets, and remote-control commands are transmitted directly to the user's selected TV or local network. Users can remove app-side records by deleting a saved TV, resetting pairing, clearing the app's storage, or uninstalling SmartUs, subject to the platform-specific details on the Data Deletion page.
Local network communication
SmartUs uses network access to discover and communicate with TVs on the same local network. It may process IP addresses, host responses, TV descriptions, pairing responses, and remote-control commands for this purpose.
Communication security depends on the protocol supported by the TV. Some TVs support encrypted WebSocket connections, while legacy TV protocols may use an unencrypted local WebSocket connection. Local TV communication is directed to the TV selected by the user and is not routed through a SmartUs server.
Advertising
SmartUs uses Google AdMob to display banner advertisements. The Google Mobile Ads SDK may automatically collect and share information with Google for advertising, analytics, fraud prevention, security, and compliance. This can include:
- IP address, which may be used to estimate approximate location
- App launches, taps, ad interactions, and similar product interactions
- Diagnostic information such as app and SDK performance
- Advertising identifiers and other app- or device-bounded identifiers where available and permitted
Where required, SmartUs uses Google's User Messaging Platform to present privacy choices before requesting ads. A privacy-options entry point may also be shown inside the app. Google Consent Mode can apply eligible users' choices to advertising user data, ad personalization, ad storage, and analytics storage when this feature is enabled in the Google privacy-message configuration.
To reduce accidental interactions and keep advertising associated with on-screen publisher content, SmartUs does not display banner ads on the active remote-control screen. A banner may be shown on the TV setup and discovery screen, where the user's attention is on the app.

Analytics
SmartUs uses Google Analytics for Firebase to understand app usage and improve reliability. Firebase Analytics may automatically process an app-instance ID, device or advertising identifiers where available and permitted, approximate location derived from an IP address, and app lifecycle events such as launches, sessions, and screen views.
On iOS, SmartUs also records limited feature events such as adding a TV, connection success or failure, connection type, remote-command category, and the number of discovery results. These events do not include the TV's name, local IP address, network device identifier, Wi-Fi MAC address, pairing key, or random app-to-TV connection identifier.
SmartUs does not set a developer-defined Firebase User-ID and does not associate Analytics data with a SmartUs account.

Sharing
SmartUs does not sell user data or upload saved TV connection records to Falido. Direct local-network communication occurs only with the user's selected TV or local network for discovery, pairing, wake, and control. Separately, data described in the Advertising and Analytics sections may be processed by Google services integrated into the app, including Google AdMob, User Messaging Platform, and Google Analytics for Firebase, according to Google's terms and privacy practices.

Security and retention
Google states that information collected by the Google Mobile Ads SDK and Google Analytics for Firebase is encrypted in transit using TLS. Local TV communication depends on the protocol offered by the TV and may be encrypted or unencrypted on the local network. Saved TV records remain until the user deletes the TV, resets pairing, clears app storage, or uninstalls SmartUs, subject to operating-system handling of protected key material. Google service data is retained according to the applicable Google product settings, terms, and policies.
User choices and deletion
Users can delete saved TV records, reset a TV pairing, clear SmartUs storage where the operating system provides that option, uninstall the app, manage advertising and tracking choices in Android or iOS settings, and use in-app privacy options when available.

Children's privacy
SmartUs is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly request personal information from children.
Policy changes
This policy may be updated as SmartUs or its service providers change. The effective date at the top of this page identifies the latest revision.
